How is Liquid Siding® Applied to your Home?

Substrate Preparation and System Application

The following is a summary discussion of substrate preparation and system application factors common to the Liquid Siding coating system. In all cases, each structure is unique in condition and a trained Procraft coatings technician will apply these and other necessary, Kryton approved procedures in all phases of any coating project.

Compatible Substrates

While an authorized Procraft or Kryton representative should be consulted for any discussion of compatible substrates, the list of approved substrates includes, as a minimum: new or previously painted wood substrates, composites (hardboard & masonite), cementious materials, metal (e.g., aluminum, steel and galvanized steel).

Incompatible Substrates

Vinyl, glass and silicone are not compatible with Liquid Siding.

Inspection Phase

Before starting any work, Procraft, Inc. conducts a thorough site inspection and notes any efflorescence, loose mortar or any other surface conditions that will require remedial action before other surface preparation steps are started. We check other building envelope components such as roofing, flashings, soffits, gutters and down spouts for signs of malfunction that may impact the coating system. We survey existing coatings and sealants for glossiness or presence of silicones.
